March 16, 2016 – Chabad at UCF hosted screenings for Jewish Genetic Diseases at their weekly barbecue on March 15. Representatives from the Victor Center for the Prevention of Jewish Genetic Diseases at Nicklaus Children's Hospital in Miami stopped at UCF on their trip around the country to raise awareness of these diseases.

Testing for Jewish genetic diseases

August 18, 2014 – Local Jews recently got screened for 19 Jewish genetic diseases.The Victor Center for the Prevention of Jewish Genetic Diseases at Miami Children's Hospital provided these screenings as well as educational sessions at both Temple Beth Sholom in Miami Beach and Kspace in Aventura. Deborah Wasserman, genetic counselor and outreach coordinator for the Victor Center Miami, said approximately 10 people got screened at Temple Beth Sholom and approximately 12 at Kspace. Approximately 30 people at Kspace listened to the lecture.
