MCH Anywhere was born of the health system’s commitment to be where the children are. The program uses state-of-the-art technology to bridge the challenges of time and distance to bring children, families and referrers together with Miami Children’s specialists who can offer the guidance they need.

September 24, 2014 – Patients treated at Miami Children’s Hospital’s (MCH) Sickle Cell Comprehensive Care Center came together for a day of fun at Zoo Miami on Saturday, September 6th.

Testing for Jewish genetic diseases

August 18, 2014 – Local Jews recently got screened for 19 Jewish genetic diseases.The Victor Center for the Prevention of Jewish Genetic Diseases at Miami Children's Hospital provided these screenings as well as educational sessions at both Temple Beth Sholom in Miami Beach and Kspace in Aventura. Deborah Wasserman, genetic counselor and outreach coordinator for the Victor Center Miami, said approximately 10 people got screened at Temple Beth Sholom and approximately 12 at Kspace. Approximately 30 people at Kspace listened to the lecture.

Beth Shalom in Brandon offers Jewish health seminar

Congregation Beth Shalom of Brandon, 706 Bryan Road, will present four free health seminars regarding issues relevant to the Jewish community.

“What’s in Your Genes?” will be presented by Dr. Parul Jayakar, director of cytogenetics and laboratory and section director of neurogenetics/metabolism at Miami Children’s Hospital’s Division of Clinical Genetics and Metabolism, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21. Jayakar is with the Victor Center for the Prevention of Jewish Genetic Diseases at Miami Children’s Hospital.

May 21, 2013 – Over 4.5 million people are bitten by dogs each year and many of those are often children. It is important to remember that any dog, regardless of age, breed or history, has the ability and the potential to bite. Fortunately, dog bites can be both prevented and avoided.

Victor Center for the Prevention of Jewish Genetic Diseases offers screenings to the community

March 25, 2013 – Thanks to recent advances in the field of genetics, a simple blood test that examines a person’s genes for changes or mutations is all it takes to determine whether the individual is a carrier. Anyone with at least one Jewish grandparent should be screened. The Victor Center provides full service genetic counseling and screening to all interested individuals and couples, through the hospital’s main campus as well as through community screenings.

Telehealth Center Opens

November 20, 2012 – The 2,000-square-foot center features state-of-the-art equipment that will enable Nicklaus Children's Hospital physicians to participate in video conferences with physicians around the globe.

Haiti Hydrocephalus Project

June 15, 2010 – In 2003 a team of medical volunteers, led by pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. John Ragheb, traveled to Haiti to perform surgery for children with hydrocephalus. Hydrocephalus is one of the most common treatable causes of neurological disability and death in the developing world.
The team has developed a comprehensive program in Port au Prince working the local medical community to develop Haiti’s first neurosurgery training program.  The team travels regularly to Haiti to teach and  help manage children and babies with hydrocephalus, providing care for more than 1,000 children to date in the island nation.

Honda's Drive for Haitian Earthquake Relief

March 22, 2010 – American Honda Motors and its dealers along with distinguished guests of The Honda Classic raised an astounding $200,000 in a matter of minutes to aid the children at who were critically injured during the recent earthquake in Haiti.

Seeds sown in years prior came to fruition in 2006 with the completion of our new 68,000-square-foot Ambulatory Care Building to house several key services, development of new devices through the MCH Brain Institute and the hospital’s Research Institute to enhance care of children with brain anomalies, and recognition of the hospital’s Cancer Center by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.
