Nicklaus Children's Hospital Selects Dicom Systems, WinguMD for Enterprise Mobile Clinical Collaboration Platform

November 23, 2018 – In order to better integrate clinical communications over mobile, Nicklaus Children's sought to implement a secure, centralized platform to capture and share clinical photos inside their EHR. WinguMD provided sharing and indexing of serial clinical photos across care teams as well as comparison with pathology, wound care and other imaging. Unifier by Dicom Systems served as the integration engine for workflow and interoperability.

November 02, 2018 – Dr. John Ragheb, Director of the Division of Neurosurgery at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, is among a group of renowned physicians who developed the first evidence-based guideline in the U.S. on mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) and concussions among children, published by the CDC in September. 

445 students receive free EKG screenings

October 31, 2018 – The Heart Program at Nicklaus Children’s, in conjunction with the Breanna Vergara Foundation, hosted an EKG screening at St. Brendan Catholic Elementary School as part of the ongoing effort to detect congenital conditions that can lead to sudden cardiac death in children.

Dr. Adele Schneider retires from Jewish Genetics Work

Dr. Schneider was among a pioneering group of doctors who made screening for Jewish genetic diseases more commonplace. By screening patients for genetic diseases and then using in vitro fertilization, she helped ensure babies would not be born with these diseases. 

When she started, Jewish genetic screenings included five diseases. Now they screen for more than 200, 96 of which apply to Jewish communities.

Beckwith-Wiedemann Conference Held at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital

Diabetic children learn about nutrition and keeping healthy at Camp Roaring Sun

July 11, 2018Camp Roaring Sun, which began Monday and runs through Friday, allowed children ages 6 through 12 to take part in traditional camp activities such as swimming, playing outside, and going to a baseball game. All the activities are monitored by Nicklaus pediatric endocrinology nurses to ensure a safe and healthy environment.

New Device Helps Children with Drug-Resistant Epilepsy Manage Seizures

April 25, 2018 – Grant is the first pediatric patient in South Florida to utilize the SenTiva VNS device, which is currently the smallest and lightest responsive therapy for epilepsy available on the market. The device, used in combination with epilepsy medications, has been shown to be effective in reducing seizure frequency and duration.
