Circadian rhythm disorders may be due to related health concerns such as insomnia or sleep apnea, or it may be due to conscious decisions made by the individual. For example, staying up playing video games or watching television. Jet lag is another cause of circadian rhythm disorders.

Difficulty concentrating, fatigue, irritability and reduced alertness are short-term symptoms of circadian rhythm disorders. Over time, it can contribute to skin problems, forgetfulness and even heart problems or diabetes.

What are circadian rhythm disorders care options?

If an underlying medical condition is to blame for circadian rhythm disorders, treating that condition should help with the sleep problems. In other situations, practicing healthy sleep habits and good sleep hygiene can help.
