The Division of Infectious Diseases at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital uses state-of-the-art diagnostic tools to identify acute or chronic viral and bacterial diseases, so that we can treat it effectively as quickly as possible.

The Division of Infectious Diseases at Nicklaus Children's uses state-of-the-art diagnostic tools to identify acute or chronic viral and bacterial diseases, so that effective treatment can be instituted as quickly as possible.
The care team also works closely with the hospital's Cancer & Blood Disorders Institute to assist immunocompromised children and teens who suffer from multiple episodes of infection.
Treatments and Procedures
Developed in collaboration with the Department of Laboratory Medicine, the division's Virology Diagnostic Center uses the following tests for rapid diagnosis of many common illnesses, including respiratory, gastrointestinal and central nervous system (CNS) infections.
