Clinodactyly

What is clinodactyly?
Clinodactyly refers to curvature of a finger in the plane of the palm. The condition most commonly affects the pinky finger.
What causes clinodactyly?
Usually, clinodactyly is caused by a developmental defect in the bones of the finger. This defect results in a bone that is wedge-shaped instead of rectangular. Clinodactyly often runs in families and is passed down from parents to children.
What are the symptoms of clinodactyly?
The abnormalities of the hand are the primary symptoms of the disorder. There is usually not pain associated with these deformities, though difficulty using the hand and pain can occur in severe cases.
What are clinodactyly care options?
If the problems are minor, no treatment may be needed. In more severe cases, surgery may be indicated to resolve problems related to clinodactyly.
