Uroflowmetry

What is Uroflowmetry?

Uroflowmetry is a diagnostic test used to measure the flow of urine during urination. It's a noninvasive test and it is generally used to see if there is an atypical pattern of urine outflow.

What happens during the treatment?

The uroflowmetry is performed by having the child urinate into a special funnel that is connected to a measuring instrument. The information gathered includes the amount of urine, rate flow in seconds, and length of time of voiding. This information is then converted in a graph.

Is any special preparation needed? 

Children should arrive with a full bladder for an uroflow study.

Ureterocele The ureters connect the kidneys to the bladder and allow urine to pass through. When swelling occurs near the bottom of a ureter where it connects with the bladder, this is known as ureterocele.
