Engaging in holiday activities can create memories that your children will remember forever! The holidays are a great reminder of what is important, and for me, that is family. With the hustle of everyday activities, we tend to rush through the day without taking the time to be present. Are you looking for indoor holiday activities to keep the children entertained during winter break or even while at home? Here are some great activities you can do from home with your family and kids.

Note: Some activities may pose a choking hazard for children under the age of 3. As such, please be cautious when partaking in these activities.

Here are five fun indoor holiday activities where you and your child can create holiday memories from the comfort of your home:

1. DIY Wreath Making Using Wrapping Bows. This is a fun way to keep kids of all ages busy! All you need is a paper plate and gift-wrapping bows. Cut out the middle part of the paper plate, then start attaching the gift wrapping bows. Done! A super easy and inexpensive way to have your kiddos admiring their beautiful work, which they can hang in their room.
   
   


2. Gingerbread Making Party. This is my favorite because the whole family gets involved! You can purchase a gingerbread-making kit from your local supermarket, Five Below, Target, or Walmart. If you have a good recipe, you can even create your gingerbread house from scratch! Putting the house together and decorating it is so much fun for the whole family. Just be mindful, decorations may go missing since children will try to eat them along the way.
   
   


3. Pajama Party Under the Tree. Have the whole family wear their best festive pajamas and have a “sleepover” under the Christmas tree. You can make this a special night for your kids by making hot chocolate together, playing holiday trivia games, or parents can share special holiday memories with their kids and create new memories.
   
   


4. Holiday Scavenger Hunts. There are many ways to do a holiday scavenger hunt with your kids. One way is to ask your kids to pick a few of their favorite toys, tell them to close their eyes without peeking, hide the toys throughout the house and then have them go on the hunt. Depending on the age and how many toys you have collected, you can give several toys to each kid to find. Or just have each kid find all of the toys. You can vary the difficulty level by hiding the toys in easy-to-find places and gradually increasing the level of difficulty. You can also play this game by using Candy Canes and having your kids find them so they can enjoy a tasty treat afterward.
   
   


5. 25 Days of Holiday Books. This is a great way to encourage and create good reading habits for kids! Each day, for 25 days, you can surprise your child with a holiday book. You can wrap the books individually and place them in a basket under the tree. My kids love it when I wrap the books like a present because it creates curiosity, and they also think they are receiving a new gift! I use books that I have collected over the years for this activity, or sometimes I like to visit the local library to borrow books. This is a great way to add education, adventure, and bonding time.
   
   

It was really hard to narrow this list down to five ideas when there is so much more you can do during the holidays; the possibilities are truly endless!
