MIAMI, FL – Five months after almost drowning in her backyard pool, 4-year-old Rose Cozier was all smiles at Miami Children’s Hospital’s Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Wednesday, December 10. Rose and her family lit the 15 foot Christmas tree that stands outside of the main entrance, together with Dr. Narendra Kini, CEO of Miami Children’s Hospital. MCH patients and staff members celebrated Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa during the annual event.
Patsy Schmidt-Cozier saved her daughter from drowning after her arm got stuck in the pool’s suction drain during a party in July. Mrs. Schmidt-Cozier yanked Rose’s arm from the drain, performed CPR and called 911. Rose was transported to MCH, where she fully recovered. Mrs. Schmidt-Cozier volunteers at the hospital’s monthly session for siblings of children with special needs, called “Sib Shops.”
