Logan's Inspiring Journey: Breakthrough Pediatric Cancer Treatment

Meet Logan, 8, and his journey battling a relapsed acute myeloid leukemia, which yielded groundbreaking pediatric cancer treatment results.

Nicklaus Children's Hospital is proud to have collaborated with a team of researchers at Florida International University (FIU), in developing a functional precision medicine approach targeting cancer by combining genetic testing with a new way to test individual drugs on tumor samples.

At Nicklaus Children's we believe no child should have to leave Florida to receive the life-saving treatment they deserve. The Helen & Jacob Shaham Cancer and Blood Disorders Institute at Nicklaus Children's Hospital is committed to advancing pediatric cancer treatment for all children in the state of Florida.

May 09, 2022 - Piper became incredibly sick in December of 2020. Just days after Piper turned 11, her parents were dismayed to learn that she had ulcerative colitis. The family went to see Dr. Muniz Crim, who, after explaining various treatment options, she suggested Remicade infusions would be the best treatment for Piper.
