Sara's Fight for Sight

August 25, 2016 – When the attending pediatrician performed the neonatal screening on baby Sara, the doctor noticed that the newborn’s left eye was cloudy and unresponsive to light. The family was immediately referred to Nicklaus Children’s Division of Ophthalmology for a more thorough examination.

A Cure for Myles

August 04, 2016 – After losing the ability to see out of both eyes, Tinsley sought help at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital’s Division of Ophthalmology, where it was determined that Myles had cataract, likely caused by long-term use of steroids. Within a week of the consultation, Myles underwent cataract surgery with Dr. Zenia Aguilera, a pediatric ophthalmologist.

Christina's Success Story

January 09, 2012 – Christina, she was able to get immediate treatment for cataracts at Nicklaus Children's Hospital, formerly Miami Children's Hospital, and underwent operations that saved her sight. Now 6 years old, she has perfect vision with glasses, is involved in her school’s gifted program, and is on her way to becoming a rock star.
