The Family Advisory Council is happy to recognize the excellent service provided by Yohann Sandoval, RN. Yohann delivers care to our patients and families in the Emergency Department. This is what one of the families Yohann cared for shared, “Yohann was literally an angel, he made my daughter very comfortable during a very bad situation. He was kind, funny and very thorough. I couldn't have asked for a better nurse!"

Toy Safety and Injury Prevention
Nearly 500 children under the age of 15 are seen daily in emergency rooms for toy-related injuries. Almost half of those children are under 5 years of age.

Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Receives Reverification as a Pediatric Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons
The Miguel “Mike” B. Fernandez Family Pediatric Trauma Center at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Emergency Department has received reverification as a Level 1 Trauma Center by the Verification Review Committee (VRC), an ad hoc committee of the Committee on Trauma (COT) of the American College of Surgeons (ACS). Nicklaus Children’s is the only hospital in South Florida to achieve Level I Pediatric Trauma Center verification.
