Shannon Odell of Nicklaus Children's Recognized by Women We Admire as Top 50 Women Chief Nursing Officers of 2024

Professional women’s organization, Women We Admire recently recognized Shannon Odell, vice president and chief nursing officer of Nicklaus Children's Health System on the Top 50 Women Chief Nursing Officers of 2024. The award highlights CNO’s overseeing world-renowned nursing workforces across the U.S. and Canada.
“Throughout a patient’s journey at Nicklaus Children’s, they’ll be cared for by pediatric nurses who are committed to providing the highest quality care while advocating for the unique needs of each patient,” says Shannon Odell, vice president and chief nursing officer of Nicklaus Children's Health System. “Leading such a diverse and dedicated team of nurses has been one of the most fulfilling roles in my career and it is an honor to be recognized by Women We Admire.”
As Chief Nursing Officer, Shannon’s impact reaches beyond bedside care as she oversees over 1,200 nurses and advanced practice providers while also ensuring patient care continues to meet and exceed the gold standard for nursing upheld by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet. A key career accomplishment for Shannon includes the creation of the Nurse Scholars Program, a scholarship initiative in collaboration with Miami Dade College and Florida International University aimed at supporting students pursuing a degree in nursing.
