MIAMI, FL. The Dade Reading Council (DRC) recently made a generous donation to Miami Children’s Hospital (MCH), giving 600 books and bibs for the young patients. Don Brotta, Treasurer of the Dade Reading Council, came up with the idea of the book donation when he went to MCH to visit a family friend. The Dade Reading Council’s main objective is to help children with reading skills. The DRC hopes that this donation will help promote literacy for the children of South Florida.
“We thank the Dade Reading Council for this wonderful donation,” said Lynn Heyman, Director of Community and Volunteer Resources at MCH. “We feel that our young patients will enjoy and benefit from Clifford and friends.”

“Clifford the Big Red Dog” books and bibs will be given to infants and toddlers admitted to Miami Children’s Hospital over the next few weeks and will be used for the hospital’s Reading is Fundamental program.

“The Council cares about children. It is important that children be exposed to the reading experience early in life,” said Brotta.
