Miami- Leonard Feld, MD, PhD, MMM, has been appointed President of Pediatric Specialists of America, the newly created entity representing the more than 200 employed physicians of Miami Children’s Health System.
He brings to the position more than 35 years of experience in pediatric medical practice, medical research and teaching, and healthcare leadership. Dr. Feld most recently served as Senior Medical Director of the Pediatric Specialists of the Carolinas Healthcare System Medical Group and Senior Academic Chair of Pediatrics for Carolinas Healthcare System in Charlotte, North Carolina. He has also served as Chief Medical Officer and Endowed Chair in Pediatrics at Levine Children’s Hospital, also in Charlotte. He had a longstanding academic practice in pediatric nephrology in New York, New Jersey and North Carolina.
Dr. Feld has published extensively and has served as the editor of numerous pediatric books. He has been on editorial boards for the American Academy of Pediatrics, on national leadership committees, and has been course director of both pediatric and pediatric nephrology board-certification courses.
Dr. Feld received his medical degree as well as a doctorate in pathology from State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine. His fellowship in pediatric nephrology was completed at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He also earned a master’s degree in medical management from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. His career has included medical research-related leadership positions and academic appointments. Dr. Feld’s most recent academic appointment was Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at University of North Carolina School of Medicine, Chapel Hill.
