Craniofacial Center Otolaryngology Services
The otolaryngologist (ENT) is the ear, nose, and throat doctor who will monitor and manage your child for any infections, sinus, or hearing problems.
Children with cleft lip/palate will often have many ear infections and may require pressure equalizing (PE) tubes to prevent further infections. The otolaryngologist strives to keep the child's ear free of fluids that can cause infections through either medical or surgical means. The ENT also plays a role in the management of upper airway (now, mouth, throat) and plays a role in diagnosing problems with the soft palate.
The ENT works closely with the audiologist in helping asses hearing deficits that patients may have and assist with proper amplification if needed.
