Benign Skin Growths

Also known as: benign skin lesion.

What are benign skin growths?

Any marks, bumps, moles, lumps, spots, skin tags, or other imperfections on the skin that are not cancerous are known as benign skin growths. While many can be ignored, some require to be watched and others may need to be treated for cosmetic or medical reasons. They come in a variety of shapes, colors and sizes.

What causes benign skin growths?

The causes of benign skin growths in children vary widely. Some occur as part of a systemic disorder, others are linked to sun exposure, frequently no cause is found.

What are the symptoms of benign skin growths? 

Most benign skin growths cause no symptoms. Larger ones may cause pain or bleeding in some instances.

What are benign skin growth care options? 

In most cases, no treatment is needed. Others may require simple surgical or other procedure.
