Nicklaus Children’s Hospital today announced a $5 million gift from local philanthropists Michelle and Michael Hagerty that will establish a new unit to support the growing need for pediatric mental healthcare. In recognition of the generous gift, Nicklaus Children’s will name the Hagerty Family Behavioral Health Unit.

octubre 14, 2021 – The Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Biobank this summer enrolled its 500th participant, a significant milestone for the biorepository, founded in 2019 to address imbalances in genomic research, with the goal of enhancing individualized care for children in South Florida and beyond. The Biobank is part of the hospital’s Personalized Medicine Initiative, committed to harnessing the latest developments in genomic science.

octubre 01, 2021 – Dr. Jordan P. Steinberg, pediatric plastic, craniomaxillofacial and orthognathic surgeon, has been appointed surgical director of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital’s Craniofacial Center, where he will oversee the surgical management of children with craniofacial anomalies.

 

South Florida Healthcare Entrepreneur Donates Helicopter to Nicklaus Children's Hospital

septiembre 28, 2021 – Nicklaus Children’s Hospital has a new addition to its critical care transport fleet, thanks to the generosity of Miguel “Mike” B. Fernandez, a Coral Gables-based healthcare entrepreneur and chairman of MBF Healthcare Partners, LP.  Fernandez donated his personal helicopter to the hospital this week to help support the care of children from the region and beyond.

The technology was possible because of the generosity of South Florida residents Howard and Debbie Belford, whose granddaughter had once received live-saving surgery at the hospital.
