Biography
Child and Adolescent Psychologist
Dr. Sandra Deris Atassi earned her doctorate in psychology from Miami Institute of Psychology, with concentration in neuropsychology. She then completed both her psychology internship and postdoctoral fellowship at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. Dr. Deris Atassi specializes in psychological, developmental, and psycho-educational assessments for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), learning disorders, giftedness, anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, and pediatric health conditions. She also conducts psychotherapy for children and adolescents with a variety of mental and medical conditions/diagnoses. Her conceptual model is rooted in a comprehensive theoretical approach incorporating health psychology, psychodynamic and attachment theory, mindfulness, and cognitive-behavioral, depending on the specific diagnosis and needs of each individual and family.
Dr. Deris Atassi has provided workshops for parents and teachers and appeared on several TV and radio shows. She is a member of the American Psychological Association and Florida Psychological Association.
